Mode of Action of Propoxur 20% EC
Propoxur is a carbamate insecticide that works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase. This enzyme normally breaks down acetylcholine, which is responsible for transmitting nerve signals in insects.
When acetylcholinesterase is inhibited, acetylcholine accumulates at the nerve synapses. This results in continuous nerve stimulation, muscle spasms, paralysis, and eventually death of the insect.
