Katyayani MSM is a chemical herbicide containing Metsulfuron Methyl 20% WP in a Wettable Powder (WP) formulation. It provides systemic weed control by inhibiting the growth and cell division of susceptible weeds, leading to gradual suppression and death of the weed plant.

Katyayani MSM is suitable for controlling important weeds in crops such as Wheat, Paddy and Sugarcane. It is particularly effective against several broadleaf weeds and selected grassy weeds.

Mode of Action 

• Systemic Action: Metsulfuron Methyl is absorbed by susceptible weeds and moves within the plant.
• ALS Inhibition: It acts as an acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor, interfering with essential processes required for weed growth.
• Growth Suppression: The inhibition of essential growth processes stops further development of susceptible weeds.
• Weed Death: Continued disruption of growth ultimately leads to the death of susceptible weeds.

Dosage 

Method of Application

• Use as a foliar spray according to the recommended crop and dosage.
• Prepare a uniform spray suspension using the recommended quantity of product in clean water.
• For the official wheat and rice recommendation, use 500–600 litres of water per hectare.
• Use a suitable high-volume knapsack or similar sprayer fitted with an appropriate flood-jet or flat-fan nozzle.
• Ensure uniform coverage of the emerged weeds.
• For wheat and rice, the PPQS label recommends using a suitable non-ionic surfactant at the specified rate along with the herbicide.
• Avoid spray drift onto broadleaf crops, non-target plants and water sources.
• Do not spray during windy conditions and follow the crop-specific label directions.
