Mode of Action

Ashitaka inhibits the enzyme 4-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate Dioxygenase (HPPD), which is essential for pigment (carotenoid) synthesis in plants. Inhibition of this enzyme causes chlorosis (bleaching) followed by gradual weed death, ensuring effective and long-lasting weed control.
